The story I'm about to tell you isn't a pleasant story. It doesn't have a "happy ending" as most stories do.
I actually die at the end.
For right now, however, let's get on with the story, Shall we?
---------------
The air reeked of rotten flesh and old blood.

After all, my parents were dead. They lay as cold as stone, frozen on the floor of our house. Both my mother and father died alongside each other. It had been only a few days, around two to be exact, since they were dead. I haven't done much since then, and nor has my brother. There's not much to do now; freak out? What good will that do me? Besides, they've been dead for so long. It'll be pointless and a waste of my strength and energy. Call 911? That won't do me any good either, because again; THEY'RE DEAD. Even though I do know who the killers were,(my parents were killed before my eyes) if I do tell the police, me and my brother might go to those stupid foster houses now that my parents are dead. Those foster parents treat you horribly, like as though your'e just another pain in the arse to deal with. Plus, they take you to their homes.
I don't want to go anywhere of right now.
My name is Broken, both my parents are dead, and my brother hasn't spoken to me in two days.

After more pointless hours pass by like seconds, my brother actually speaks.
"Get up, we're going."
I don't obligue.
There isn't much to counter back at him; He's the only one I can trust at the moment, and he's the only one related to me and yet stil alive. I get up and watch him exit the house, taking his jacket with him before he leaves. After putting on my jacket and before I leave, I bid farewell to my dead parents and wave to their dead corpses as I used to when I left to attend school.
This is the last time I ever entered the house I used to call home, and the last time I ever saw the two people who helped me start my life.
As we stepped outside, the crunch of the grass was the first thing to welcome me to this dead world. Buildings fumed smoke from smoke stacks, continueing to poision the already gloomish-looking skies. The honking of cars and horns of trains seemed to mute everything out. Trees with faded leaves seemed to be just as gloomish as the skies. Life that once lived in these areas had died out, and the effects of it were obvious to view.
My brother put on his hood and made sure no one could view his face. I took to it that I needed to follow, and put my hood on aswell, trying to conceal my identity.
After making sure no one could recognize us, we began our long walk.
TDL (my brother's initials/name) took position as leader and down the road we walked. He knew these streets like the back of his head; he was born in this nieghborhood, so he led instead of me. Technically, I jogged since I stopped every now and then to look back and was always a little behind of him.
We walked for hours, until we came across a highway. I had no idea why he continued even with the highway, but nor did I question him. He was older than me, and knows what he's doing, or atleast I'd hope.
Hiding in the brush, we traveled alongside the highway, with the constant honking and acceleration of the cars ringing in our ears. Eventually, we found a bridge infront of us. We had to walk under it but since the water was too rapid to swim on, we stoped following the highway. My brother led us northwards, and then we walked straight into a dead forest.
Gray squirrels hid in the camoflague of the grey leaves, while vultures tended to the dead bodies of dead deer. Some deer were still alive, but seemed as though they were fragile like glass; give them one push and they'd fall to the ground and shatter.
As we walked past these sickened animals, they all seemed to stare at us, straight into our souls. They weren't angered, infact, they were nothing of that. However, it was obvious their expression was desperate and sadened.
"Help us..." The wind echoed in my ears as we pressed on through the dead land.
It took a while, but finally, we managed to get out of that bloodied hell. It was torture to walk in it, and the only good thing about it was leaving. TDL suddenly found a different path, and so we followed it. This path took us to what seemed to be an abandoned trainstation. No guards were in sight, and if any train did begin to move, the only person was the one driving it. They didn't seem to notice us, though we were in plain sight.
We passed classical, old, beaten-up copper trains, that seemed to be like a gang member: Either was covered up in scratches and bruises or painted over with grafitti that seemed like tatoos. After walking around, we found an empty freight wagon that was connected to a locomotive.
At least we wouldn't have to walk around anymore, since I was tired already.
TDL lifted himself first into the train and then helped me up. We examined the empty cart together silently, not saying a single word. The train had a couple of boxes here and there, along with some empty crates. Only one crate held something usefull; a left over apple. It suprisingly wasn't eaten by rats yet and seemed decent enough to eat. We broke it in half and devoured on the first piece of food we've gotten since we left our house. My brother went and sat in a corner, and slept there.
I decided to snoop around before I was to sleep, and continued to further examine the cart.
I found a cat, of which I believe is a Maine Coon cat. She was apparently a mother, and had three kittens. A frozen figure, that seemed alot like one of her kittens, appeared to be frozen stiff and was dead. it's tiny little corpse was set laying down on the cold metal floor, afar from the rest of it's family.
At first, the mother hissed at me and tried to claw at me, but I tried to not seem like a horror terror and stayed peacefull. She softened up to me and allowed me to pet her and her kittens. I looked at her dead kitten and then looked back at her. She held a saddened look in her brown eyes, but turned her head to tend to her kittens, who mewled as she cleant them.
After that, I had my fill of adventure and went to a corner in the frieght wagon next to some boxes and such. I leaned my head on the box and closed my eyes to exit this world of pain and enter my dreams.
